Education

1980 Laurea in Chemistry at the University of Milan - Institute of Industrial Chemistry. Advisor: prof. Raffaello Fusco, Co-advisor: prof Alessandro Marchesini. Title of the thesis: Oxidative dimerization of 3,4-disubstituted isossazol-5-ones.
1980 - 1981 Research Fellowship of the University of Milan on the synthesis and oxidation of heterocyclic systems. Supervisor: prof. Alessandro Marchesini.
1981 - 1982 Fellowship of Pharmaceutical Company "Labochim" on the synthesis of pharmaceutical products. Supervisor: prof. Stefano Maiorana.
1982 - 1985 Fellowship of ENI, within "Progetto Finalizzato del CNR: Chimica Fine e Secondaria" on the synthesis of heterocyclic systems as intermediates and additives for the petrochemical industry.

Positions held

1986 Permanent position as Research Scientist at CNR - Centro Studio Sintesi e Stereochimica Speciali Sistemi Organici c/o Organic and Industrial Chemistry Department of Milan University.
1989 Research period at Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Paris, Research supervisor: Prof. G. Jaouen, working on the enzymatic resolution of chiral arenechromiumtricarbonyl complexes.
1990 - 2006 Contract Professor for organic chemistry course (Industrial Chemistry Laurea) at Milan University.
2001 - present Senior Research Scientist at CNR-ISTM.

She participated in several International and National Research Projects and was involved as co-scientist in charge of research contracts of Glaxo-Wellcome and Bracco Imaging. She co-supervised about 40 "Thesis of Laurea" and 6 PhD thesis. Since 2009, she is the responsible of the CNR-ISTM Milan Unit, within the CNR Research Project "Design, synthesis and tests of molecules and materials for photosensitized solar cells" of the Molecular Design Department of CNR. This project focuses on the synthesis and characterization of thiophene based molecules with targeted opto-electronic properties for photovoltaic applications. Some results of this research have been object of two recently deposited patents. Her research activity is documented by more than 80 publications, 6 patents as well as a number of invited, oral and poster communications to international and national chemistry conferences.


Research

Current interest:

Organic and heterocyclic chemistry: synthesis of organic molecules for applications in photovoltaic field.

Other research experiences:

Organometallic chemistry directed toward organic and stereoselective synthesis; solid phase chemistry.
Bioorganometallic chemistry: in particular the development of metal complex conjugates of Peptide Nucleic Acids (PNAs) as novel biosensors.


Research Publications

Author or co-author of more than 80 publications on national and international journals as well as of 7 patents and a number of invited, oral and poster communications at international conferences.
